In The Ring Two, Rachel is required to investigate the past of Samara Morgan when her son becomes sick with an unknown ailment.In The Ring, Rachel Keller as an investigative reporter, is asked by her sister Ruth to find out the mysterious circumstances that led to Katie's death. Rachel discovers through her that Katie was in good health and that she found Katie's disfigured body in the closet. Katie's friends tell Rachel about the legend behind the cursed tape and Katie's friend Becca was put in an institution due to Katie's tragic death. Katie's boyfriend, along with two of her best friendsall perished in strange accidents that occurred on the same night at 10:30 PM. Rachel travels to Shelter Mountain Inn to Cabin 12 where Katie and her friends watched the videotape that was cursed. Rachel uncovers the tape and begins to watch the tape. The phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel seeks help from her ex-boyfriend Noah Clay, a video analyst. Rachel discovers later that Aidan, Noah's son, observed the tape and believed that Noah was calling her. He tells Rachel that Noah believes Rachel. Rachel goes through the tape in search of the lighthouse and finds that it's located on Moesko Island. This was the home of Anna Morgan, an evil horse breeder cursed to appear on the cursed tape. Rachel uncovers that Anna had an adopted daughter, Samara. She was adept at creating horrifying images in the minds animals, humans as well as objects. Rachel meets Anna's widower Richard. Richard demands Rachel leave the scene as soon as she begins to ask questions about Samara.
