Catherine Ford was born Bloomsbury in London. Because her father's departure the family of Ford, they were managed by her grandmother, mom as well as godparents. As a young girl, Ford was battling obsessive/compulsive disorders and anxiety caused by the word association. Ford was interested in acting during her teenaged years, and enrolled in the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted into Sylvia Young Theatre School but after just one week she realized that she wasn't a good fit. Ford reapplied to Central School of Speech and Drama and on her fourth attempt she was accepted. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler, a regular character in Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993 but, by that time she was already making her TV debut on the 1991 season from Surgical Spirit; she adopted the name of her professional "Catherine Tate". Tate was seen in television programmes like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning during the Nineties. Her regular work in theatre led her to join The Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 Season. Tate's stand-up comedy that she started adding to her repertoire in the year 1996, was soon gaining her admiration.
